We see it on the TV news, in newspapers, and on the Internet. Why is this happening? This paper will cover the good have of employers, define business ethics, what a code of ethics is, the levels of inquiry, the nature of moral judgments, distinguishing characteristics of moral principles, making moral judgments, applying estimable standards to management communication, statements of ethical principles, the front page test, how these ethical violations extend to employees and the business itself, some examples of business ethics violations, and how companies and the government continue with ethical violations. A recent National Business Ethics Survey discovered that employees care somewhat the ethical conduct of their employers. Employees are questioning the ethics of many of their managers today, which should of serious concern. The Hudson build and Walker Information, both in Indianapolis, surveyed more than 3,000 workers across the U.S. about their experiences and attitudes.

The most worrisome finding that fewer than half (½) of working Americans believe their senior leaders are people of highschool integrity (The 1999 National Business Ethics Survey, 1999, in ORourke, J.S., 2010, page 61). Other findings in the Hudson-Walker Survey may be cause for concern as well.
