Necessity and Free Will:
A Vision of Paradise, from Paradise Lost
In Book III of Johns Miltons Paradise Lost, he begins by discourse of simultaneous inflammation and divine wisdom:
Hail consecrate Light, offspring of Heavn first-born, Or of th Eternal coeternal beam
may I express thee unblamd? Since God is Light, And never alone in unapproached Light Dwelt from Eternity, dwelt then in thee, Bright leak of bright essence increate (Milton, 1872).
Symbolically, Milton refers to light concurrently and truthfully, through his inner-most thoughts and viewpoints. The advert to light can be compared to divine wisdom or precise light. As Milton talks about his blindness, he is at last signifying the fact that he cannot hold, and therefore he lacks wisdom. Essentially, holy light is the personification of God.
In Book III, Milton affirms that Gods prediction does not enforce an obligation upon us. God divulges to the Son that heller pass on choose retribution on Man. In defense reaction of Man, God will redound Upon his own rebellious full stop (Milton, 1873). In addition, God states that Man will be perverted, repayable to the lies of Satan.
Humankind was created free, and able to resist temptation.

Thus, grace cannot be succeed unless heavenly justice is satisfied. Also, the Son must offer himself as a ransom.
Through Book III, we see Miltons face-to-face religious perceptions. For example, Milton discounts the Orthodox Calvinist view of predestination. Men cannot hellish God for what happens throughout life, good or bad. Free will is innate within Man. Yet, God still has the capability to see mans destiny. On the other hand, the Puritan teaching is that the fate of every mans soul is compulsive prior to birth.
