Growing up, my mother raised me and my siblings as she was raised; we treated others the way we expected to be treated regardless of discase color. I come from a small town called Aurora, N.C. where racism still exists but was often swept under the rug. My number one encounter with racism was when a group of us was walk home from school and we decided to take a shortcut. An erstwhile(a) white lady yelled some disrespectful speech communication at us and then got in her truck with her dogs in the back. When she got close to us, she slowed down and let the dogs jump off to flap over us.
I was petrified and confused because I didnt understand how soulfulness could do something so hateful. My mother explained to us that although under law we are equal, some people still believe we are beneath them. From that day forward, I made a predict to raise my children to treat everyone equally because I never cute them to endure what I did that day.
