After reading through the text and reviewing in class the different theories and beliefs on defining competency inside a second style I feel that I have decided which theory I would agree with the most.
Bachmans proposed model for a theoretical framework of communicative language ability, that of course has reference to other theorists such as Canale and Swain, re anyy connects to my beliefs in that there is more to language than that the grammar. During my junior year of high school I began winning Spanish so I could bugger off accepted into college. In this class the teacher was focused on teaching us the alphabet and basic grammar. Not only did this bore me plainly it also made me upset that I was not cosmos taught more about the Spanish language and culture. I matt-up like I was looked over and was looked to for little effort. Now in this class there were discipline issues and the teacher was extremely justificatory…so who knows what was going on in her head. But the following(a) year I attended Señora Vanlandinghams class. In this class she taught her lessons using information/music/movies from different Spanish cultures. She had us role play or present a researched topic. Among presenting she had high expectations for us to write and write well.
She always further community involvement and traveling. I wont go over everything from her class, but basically from her class, other classroom experiences at CSU and educational courses I have developed the belief that all the levels of competency need to be addressed so students buttocks build a strong background and ability to slide by in a variety of ways. Bachmans beliefs in hit all of the levels of language competence (such as grammar cmp, textual cmp, sociolinguistic cmp, etc) really are what language teachers need to consider.
