Shylock did non go easy, at first. He was very stern most getting his pound of flesh. Bassanio tried to bribe Shylock with much money than he was going to get in the beginning, Shylock said no. Then, Portia and Nerissa came, dressed as young men. They were sham to be a doctor Balthasar and his clerk. Portia said that they must conform to the bond, but then she found a loophole. The loophole was that not one complete blood shall be shed from Antonio.
Shylock didnt understand how this was even possible. If he shed one drop of blood, he would lose fractional of his belongings. He decided to take the money, but Portia said no, you must follow the bond. So he gave up, and let Antonio go. However, he still lost his belongings. They were given to Lorenzo and Jessica.
Portia shows a lack of compassion towards Shylock. This happens in the courthouse at Antonios trial. Portia outwits Shylock. She finds the loophole in the bond that he granted to Bassanio. In the beginning she is spontaneous to work with him, and have him follow the bond. Then she found the loophole.
