This act does not just happen once, he also says his acquaintance is misconstrued when he is at Gatsbys party. He states I had taken two finger bowls of champagne, and the scene had changed before my eyes into something significant, elemental and profound. (47) the alcohol has once again altered what Nick thinks about things, which makes him an unreliable source as to what truly happened at Gatsbys party.
